Mohawk Varsity Volleyball 2008

lady mohawks 2009 volleyball season re-cap

The Morrisonville Lady Mohawk Volleyball Season concluded on Thursday, October 29 with two matches in the Raymond (Lincolnwood) Regional. In the first match against Mt. Olive, the Lady Mohawks ended a ten match losing streak defeating the Lady Wildcats (27-25) (25-19), in what was a total team effort as our two freshmen came off the bench to play well and give us the boost we needed to end the run of losses. In the next match, however, the second seeded Lady Lancers proved to be too talented around the court and the Lady Mohawks fell rather quickly by a (12-25) (10-25) count. It was truly two seasons in one as the Lady Mohawks enjoyed a great September, going 11-8, but endured a trying October finishing only 3-14 for an overall mark of 14 wins and 22 losses.

Overall, we feel, it was a lack of confidence that snowballed and the Lady Mohawks could not recover once the losing began, as at one point in the season, we were 10-5 with a third place finishes at DeLand and at Windsor. The Seniors gave their best effort to succeed, and we wish them much happiness and success in their lives. We wish to thank "The Tribe" who was there throughout the season rooting us on, even though often, we gave them little reason to cheer. With the success of the JV (14-6) and the returning juniors to go with the young talent, we feel that, with a fair amount of work in the off season, we can return to winning form next year. For now, we wish the boys well as they compete on the basketball court with a new coach and new expectations. Coach Ippolito would like to thank all the players for all their efforts throughout the season.
